
In 2007 Sports Development launched the ‘Activator Project’ as part of the age of Opportunities programme.
It is aimed at elderly people the majority of whom have age related disabilities and long term conditions, a team of fitness instructors and care professionals visit settings in the community to deliver chair based exercise programmes to over 200 people.
Aims
Chair based Exercise classes are very low impact keep kit exercises that are done whilst seated, or with the use of a chair. It involves simple repetitive movements aimed to increase mobility of the joints.
